Communities
of Practice
To support states in demonstrating improved results for students with disabilities, OSEP has formed six Technical Assistance Communities of Practice that address key challenges affecting national implementation of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA). The six communities are aligned with OSEP's efforts that promote state improvement and performance and support states in demonstrating improved results for students with disabilities and their families.
One key challenge facing States and local education
agencies is the challenge to improve school completion rates for
students with disabilities. To this end OSEP has created the Part
B-Exiting Community of Practice and designated the NDPC-SD
as a co-facilitator of the community.
The Exiting Part B Community of Practice is for key stakeholders interested in:
- Reducing dropouts
- Increasing graduation rates
- Reducing the gap that exists between the graduation rates for
students with and without disabilities
- Providing successful transitions from high school to postsecondary
education, meaningful employment, civic engagement, and successful
adult community living.
